Knowing how to tie a Karate Belt is the first thing an aspiring Karate student should learn. Our photo tutorial will show you in steps how to do it.

Start with one end of the belt in your left hand and place it near the navel. This end will remain static for most of the belt tying procedure. Wrap the belt around your waist counter-clockwise.
Continue wrapping the long end around waist a second time. Notice how the first wrap holds the beginning end in place. This is important.
Push the long end under both layers of the belt It is important that it goes under both layers or one will slip, making the belt look unsightly.
Make sure the bottom end is about 1" longer than the top end
Now wrap the long end over the short end, forming a loop. Pull the long end through the loop you formed.
Pull both ends tight so the knot doesn't slip during training
THATS IT! Just make sure the knot is on the right and your good
