Full uniform (Gi top and bottom) is required during fall and winter months.

BMAP T-Shirts are allowed during spring and summer months.

Full GI (jacket, pants and belt) required for all testing!

**We suggest waiting to see if your child likes the class before you purchase a GI.

Patch's

  • The gold BMAP patch is available from Sensei. It must be sewn onto the Gi on the left side, one finger width off lapel on left side, over the heart.
  • (TKD) Moo Duk Kwan is a club patch which goes on right arm under academic achievement patch if they have one and the flag patch goes under the Moo Duk Kwan patch once they learn Poomsae 1. Put the Karate or Moo Duk Kwan patch 1/4" under the shoulder seam on the right arm Centered on the crease.
  • The Tiger patch (Karate only) will go under the Karate patch on the right sleeve. Students will earn this upon learning all of the Kihon Katas
  • Goju (fist) and TKD side Kick patch are style patches and go on the left arm ¼ inch from seam, centered on the crease.
  • If your student gets A's and B's on their report card and you bring it in, they will receive an academic achievement patch. Academic Achievement patches have high priority and go ¼ inch on right arm under seam, moving other patches under this one, centered on the crease.

TESTING INFO  Uniform is full Gi and belt. Check the schedule on the website, Facebook or bulletin board to find out the upcoming testing schedule. There is a certification fee when the student passes and achieves a solid color belt. They will receive a Black Knight Karate Association certificate and their new belt. See Sensei on prices. Ages 9 and over must know everything that is on the test to be able to test. When testing for Yellow Belt, you must also know how to tie your belt. See Sensei, senior student or webpage for further instruction. Green Belts and higher will be required to recite the oath and break boards. There are written tests at the end of the phsical portion of the test. Much of the information can be found on the website, Facebook or have been covered numerously in class

Under 9 White Belt testing is broken down into increments:

  • Test 1 - student will be required to know all stances, blocks, kicks and punches (TKD and Karate)
  • Test 2 - students will be required to know all of above and Forms (Katas) Kicho Hanna & Kicho Dule TKD and Kihon Katas Karate (TKD and Karate)
  • Test 3 - TKD is same as above plus Kicho Set and Il Jung- Karate needs to also know  all above and Beginner Katas.
  • Test 4 - Students need to know all of above plus Their self defense techniques.
  • Test 5 - All the above and tie your Belt.

During the white belt tests, students are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to request a demonstration if they are not sure how to do something. This option is only available during white belt testing and Sensei would rather they do this than try to guess, or do it wrong over and over.

DVD'S of what your student needs to know are available from Sensei. They may use this to practice at home.

REMEMBER- Everyone learns at a different pace so don't get impatient or frustrated. Proper technique is most important. Here at BMAP we do not believe in fast tracking through the ranks but rather in learning the true way of martial arts.
